Champagne Bollinger was established in 1829 by Jacques Bollinger and to this day is still family owned. Benefitting from ownership of 166 hectares of vineyards in the finest Premier and Grand Champagne, Bollinger wines are defined as much by the vines the grapes come from, as by the blending process, or the House’s century old barrels in which the wines mature. Bollinger is a true Champagne icon and it’s clear to see why.
This unique expression of the 2007 vintage is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from 14 crus, including 91% Grand Crus and 9% Premier Crus. The wine offers freshness and an extraordinary intensity due to its recent disgorgement, as well as the aromas of an old vintage which has been aged for more than 13 years in the heart of the Bollinger cellars in Aÿ. Only the very best vintages are elevated to R.D. status by Bollinger and as "Recently Disgorged" infers the wine was disgorged on 10th JULY 2020. "2007 is in most hands a weak and diluted vintage that I normally avoid. The exception is spelled Bollinger! The powerful house style often shines brighter during lighter vintages, the vintage wines from Bollinger are top on my list from 2007. The wine was already like La Grande Année classically built and balanced with good depth and tightly beautiful malic acids. Now in the R.D. version, the minerality is even clearer with macadam, chalk and gunpowder smoke. The champagne is extremely slim with a slightly buttery vanilla-like note as the top layer on above the dry notes of cocoa, hazelnut cream, dried apricots, blood orange and red juicy apples. An unusually fine-tuned classic."
